CASSE going bush!
June 18, 2014CASSE Peaceful Schools Program Awards!
June 25, 2014CASSE Peaceful Schools Program is very excited to report our 2nd successful computer game workshop in collaboration with Deakin University.
Deakin IT Lecturer Dr. Michael Hobbs and his exceptional team facilitated sessions with our secondary students to start developing a CPSP computer game. The students were thrilled to learn a range of new skills in developing the story/narrative, arts/graphic, code/gameplay mechanics.
By the end of the session we had the beginnings of our first-version of a prototype. In summary, it was a productive and enjoyable day. Congratulations to everyone involved in the project.
The mission of these workshops is for the students to learn new skills while assisting in the creation of a fun and engaging computer game prototype. The game is aimed at kids and teenagers and incorporates the CASSE values. The values will play out in the scenarios and challenges where players have to make choices based on teamwork, peaceful conflict resolution and empathy to help them succeed. The secondary students play a crucial role in the planning process by developing these scenarios through their own social experiences, perspectives and what is relevant and attractive to young people. The Deakin team will use their expertise in this area to help to make the students vision a reality.
