Today is Harmony Day, or, more correctly, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
To mark this important event, the United Nations human rights chief reminded Governments around the world that they have a legal obligation to stop hate speech and hate crimes, and called on people everywhere to “stand up for someone’s rights.” (http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=56379#.WNCaYjt97b1 )
Meanwhile, Australia’s federal government chose to announce reforms to WEAKEN Section 18c. (http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/turnbull-locks-in-racehate-law-reform/news-story/7a09e03b84c24585fcaf76c196225e0c)
Happy Harmony Day!
